Using Hootsuite to simplify Instagram posting

Lots of people have been asking about the easiest way to post to Instagram. I think the consensus is to upload your photos to DropBox and then create your post in Instagram using your SmartPhone. But, typing on the phone is no picnic and if you’re like me you waste lots of time dealing with typos and auto-correct.

Lately, I’ve been using Hootsuite to create my Instagram posts and I love it. It allows me to create posts on my computer where I feel comfortable. In addition, I can schedule my posts so I can prep several days of content at a time. That’s been a huge time saver to me, so I created a quick tutorial to show you the Hootsuite interface and how it works with Instagram.

Are you using Hootsuite already? Or do you have another method you prefer? Post in the comments section below if you do. Or if you have any questions let me know and I’ll try to help you out…

  1. Been meaning to make the time to set up a HootSuite account – thanks, Nick, for the inspiration and the clear and simple directions! (hoping I don’t put anything else on my Android’s Clipboard between when I schedule and when I actually Paste the text, haha!)

    • I thought the same thing, Nancy, but the text actually gets copied to your phone’s clipboard at the time you post. So it’ll be there when you need it…

  5. Nick,
Can you help me with this? I am trying to set up hootsuite for Wisc. PPA. My question is I would like twitter and instagram, but I have instagram on my phone for my business, how would I accomplish this with 2 instagram accounts? Is is possible? I have set up hootsuite for them, but instagram was not a choice when setting up. Any help would be so appreciated.

    • Hi, Pam. I think the problem you’re running into is that your web browser is logged into Instagram. Go to instagram.com and log out of your Instagram account. Then go back to Hootsuite and when you click Add Social Network you should get an Instagram Login box that will let you select the Wisc PPA account. • I would get it set up on the computer and then once you have it set up you shouldn’t have to log in or out of any accounts on your phone. You should be able to see both streams…
